Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Chris Harris Jr. landed on injured reserve Tuesday with an ailing right foot that is expected to sideline the veteran for four to six weeks.

The four-time Pro Bowl selection told former ESPN reporter Josina Anderson that he sustained bruising of the third and fourth metatarsals and also sprained the front of his foot during Sunday's 21-16 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

"My cleats were in the turf when the lineman landed on me," he told Anderson, adding that the injury will not require surgery.

Harris, 31, signed a two-year, $17 million contract with the Chargers in March after playing his first nine seasons with the Denver Broncos.

He has 15 tackles and one pass defensed in three starts this season. In 142 career games (124 starts), Harris has 20 interceptions and 87 passes defensed.

The Chargers promoted safety Jahleel Addae from the practice squad in a corresponding transaction. Addae, 30, has played in 97 games with the Chargers (2013-18, 2020) and Houston Texans (2019).
