TOKYO, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Wednesday as the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar gave exporters a boost, although the mood was circumspect following a stalemate over delayed virus-linked stimulus talks in U.S. Congress.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 75.86 points, or 0.33 percent, from Tuesday to 22,826.10.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 9.46 points, or 0.60 percent, at 1,595.42.

Rubber product, bank, and insurance issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
